The Lookout Kids
The LookOut Kids find depth in simplicity. Comprised of baritone guitar, drums and harmonized vocals, Travis Warren and Sarah Scarlata manage to create a big sound magnified by raw emotions and an honest approach to creating edgy rock n’ roll. Described as “The perfect mixture between Tool and The White Stripes,” their far reaching influences ranging from Elliott Smith to Slayer result in a unique sound with immediate impact.
Travis and Sarah’s musical journey began in 2002 when they formed the dynamic alternative rock band Rain Fur Rent while residing in San Luis Obispo, California. The small but burgeoning music scene in the area was the perfect launch pad for growing a grass roots following in bookend cities San Francisco and Los Angeles. It didn’t take long for them to garner the attention of the music industry once they relocated to Los Angeles in 2004.
After Rain Fur Rent called it quits in 2006, Travis joined Blind Melon as their new frontman and contributed songs to their comeback record For My Friends in April, 2008. Sarah focused on studio drumming and has had her original compositions featured in Universal Pictures’ Tower Heist, NBC’s 30 Rock and the CBS College Sports network to name a few.
A road trip up to their old haunt San Luis Obispo in March of 2011 sparked the idea for The LookOut Kids. With a show booked at the Viper Room in less than two months as a deadline, their intuitive and prolific musical communication birthed 8 new songs and a rekindled passion for making music together. Travis’ magnetic stage presence, captivating vocals and angular yet catchy baritone guitars riffs along with Sarah’s bombastic “I-didn’t-know-chicks-could-play-like-that” drumming skills make for an exciting duo to reckon with.
Their debut EP Snitches Get Stitches is set for release in on iTunes, Amazon MP3 and Spotify August 14, 2012.
