In 2006, Travis T. Warren was asked to be the new singer of Blind Melon. He had been working with Brad Smith and Christopher Thorn at Studio Wishbone on his solo material, and it became apparent that Travis had the right set of traits as a singer and a musician that the other member felt comfortable to bring him into the fold. Of course, stepping into this role was controversial and it is to Travis' credit that he was able to weather the storm and convince hardcore fans that he was the right person for the job. They toured in 2007, released an album of new material in April of 2008, and they have been playing shows each year since that time. Travis' voice is similar enough to Shannon's that he can sing the songs the way they need to be done, but at the same time, he is very different from Shannon and helps to forge a new path for their music.
